COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Kuala Lumpur Bristol Certificate in Urodynamics course is a concentrated 2-day course that is primarily concerned with ensuring the quality of urodynamics (UDS) practice, the interpretation of UDS traces, and the role of UDS in the management of the different patient groups. Those attending should have a basic knowledge or some experience of urodynamics and understand the practice and clinical context of the procedure.

The course finishes on the second day with a multiple choice & trace-based test but delegates can opt not to take the test. The course is certified and approved by the International Continence Society (ICS).

LEARNINGS:

Hashim Hashim, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Honorary Professor of Urology & Director of the Urodynamics Unit, Bristol Urological Institute

Professor Hashim is a Consultant Urological Surgeon, Honorary Professor of Urology and Director of the Urodynamics Unit at the world-renowned Bristol Urological Institute. He is a world renowned urologist specialising in female and functional urology including male and female urinary incontinence, functional and neuro-urology, urodynamics and pelvic reconstruction. He is a committee member of the European Association of Urology (EAU) section of female and functional urology, the EAU male LUTS guidelines committee, the British Association of Urological Surgeons section of female urology, neuro-urology and urodynamics, and the International Consultation on Incontinence Urodynamics committee. He is an associate editor of Neuro-urology and Urodynamics Journal and BJUI Compass Journal. Prof. Hashim has authored over 90 articles in peer reviewed journals, as well as 54 book chapters and 8 books and has been an invited lecturer across the world.

Siti Nur Masyithah Ma’arof, Consultant Urological Surgeon, Ara Damansara Medical Centre, Selangor, Malaysia

Dr. Siti Nur Masyithah binti Ma’arof is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Ara Damansara Medical Centre, Selangor, Malaysia. She graduated from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003. After obtaining Masters in Surgery in 2012 from the same university, she decided to subspecialize in Urology. She obtained her FRCS (Urology) from University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom in 2018. In 2020, she completed two Fellowships at Bristol Urological Institute (BUI), Bristol, United Kingdom which were Female and Functional Urology and Endourology. She was trained by Professor Dr. Hashim Hashim and Dr. Anthony Timoney respectively. Prior to that in 2017, she was awarded the Japanese Urological Association (JUA) International Foundation Scholarship for Young Asian Urologists where she did a two-months attachment in Urogynaecology at Kameda Medical Center, Chiba, Japan under the supervision of Dr. Jimmy Nomura. In 2019, she was awarded the Urology of Asia Association (UAA) Young Urologist Fellowship. She presented various times at local and international Urology conferences. She also appeared often on YouTube channels, radio and television shows in Malaysia to talk about Urology topics, especially those related to Female and Functional Urology and Endourology where she is highly passionate about.

Laura Thomas, Clinical Scientist, Manager of Urodynamics Unit, Bristol Urological Institute

Miss Laura Thomas is a Clinical Scientist specialising in Urodynamic Science and Gastrointestinal Physiology. She has been managing the Urodynamics Unit at the Bristol Urological Institute since 2014 and will complete her Consultancy training this year. Laura has a particular interest in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and, as part of her clinical doctorate, is currently reviewing the role of diagnostic testing in patients with global pelvic floor symptoms. Laura performs all Urodynamic investigations and has recently joined the Paediatric team to help train the urodynamic staff and support with complex cases.
