The why and how of measuring pressure in the esophagus explained. Now that the Babylonian confusion of tongues in classification is history because of the Chicago Classification, we must pay attention to uniformity in the execution of the measurements themselves.

Jac. Oors, RN, started as a nurse on a surgical ward at the University hospital in Utrecht ending as head nurse of the surgical Medium Care Unit. After that he was appointed as head of the Motility Center. Nowadays he is Chief Nurse Technician of the GI Motility lab at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers. Approx. 600 patients annual undergo diagnostic investigations within the unit. Next to that he is involved in research projects on reflux and dysphagia . More than 10 years now he is involved in teaching programs. He is co-author of over 35 peer-reviewed published articles.
