Join us for the 22nd edition of the 3-day practice-based course on upper GI function testing, with the emphasis on esophageal High Resolution Manometry (HRM) and 24-hour ambulatory Impedance-pH monitoring. 

Course Topics:

  • Basic principles of, and indications for upper GI function testing 
  • Set-up and prepare system and catheters using the Laborie/MMS system
  • Live demonstrations of HRM and Impedance-pH test procedures
  • System Troubleshooting ‘What to do when things go wrong’ 
  • Test protocols and analysis of results
  • Clinical interpretation of findings, normal values and important publications
  • Case discussions, e.g. patient cases with achalasia, distal esophageal spasm, reflux symptoms, belching and other abnormalities
  • Hands-on practice in analyzing and report generation
Participants are encouraged to present their own patient case followed by discussion.
  • The minimum number of attendees is 12
  • The maximum number of attendees is 20

Who should attend?

Physicians, nurses and other health care professionals with basic knowledge of esophageal motility and impedance-pH reflux examinations.

The registration fee for the three-day program includes:

About the course directors

Arjan-Bredenoord

A/PROF. ARJAN BREDENOORD

Amsterdam Medical Center

Prof. Albert J (Arjan) Bredenoord graduated in Medicine from Antwerp University, Belgium. He worked as a research fellow on projects on upper GI physiology at Utrecht University, where he obtained his PhD. He performed his clinical GI training in Utrecht, London and Amsterdam.

Currently, he works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Amsterdam Medical Center and he is a professor of Neurogastroenterology and Motility at the University of Amsterdam. His primary research focus is on esophageal physiology and pathophysiology, on which he has published over 250 papers and book chapters. He is a pioneer in impedance monitoring and high-resolution manometry and founding member of the HRM consensus group and president of EUREOS, the European EoE Network.

Jac. Oors, RN, started as a nurse on a surgical ward at the University hospital in Utrecht ending as head nurse of the surgical Medium Care Unit. After that he was appointed as head of the Motility Center. Nowadays he is Chief Nurse Technician of the GI Motility lab at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers. Approx. 600 patients annual undergo diagnostic investigations within the unit. Next to that he is involved in research projects on reflux and dysphagia . More than 10 years now he is involved in teaching programs. He is co-author of over 35 peer-reviewed published articles.
