John Gallagher
Consultant Clinical Scientist
United Kingdom
John Gallagher studied Physiological Sciences at Newcastle University, where he developed an interest in the aerodigestive tract and the role of gastro-oesophageal refluxate in the development of respiratory disease. Following his graduation, John was accepted onto the Scientist Training Programme (STP) in GI Physiology and trained at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull, where he was offered a permanent position upon completing his training. During this time, he developed a particular interest in upper GI physiology and has since become part of a research team investigating the role of oesophageal motility and reflux in Chronic Cough and Interstitial Lung Diseases.
John sits on the Association of GI Physiologists (AGIP) council as Education Secretary, responsible for co-ordinating the training, education, and assessments of UK GI Physiology trainees on the AGIP recognised Accredited Scientific Practitioner (ASP) and STP programmes.
